Emerged from the dumpsters of Philadelphia, the Rata Alada (Spanish for "Winged Rat") takes inspiration from the ProCo Rat's gain and tone stacks and soars to new heights with an added clean blend, togglable active EQ, +1 octave, and shape-shifting diodes!

• Mix Potentiometer: Blends full fuzz saturation with a buffered clean boost. This maintains low-end clarity—perfect for bass players—and ensures seamless parallel routing with other effects..

• "Color" Footswitch: Engages a 2-stage Active Gyrator EQ delivering a +6dB bass boost at 125Hz parallel to a tweakable 3kHz–11kHz stabbing "Presence" boost for attack. This shapes a unique "cocked-wah meets scooped-mids" tonality without sacrificing the vital mid-range focus of the primary gain stage.

• "Octave" Footswitch: Utilizes an op-amp style active rectifier to fly up an octave from the fuzz circuit. Sweeping the "Filter" control transitions the effect from a harsh, upfront square-wave octave to a smoother sawtooth coloring.

• The tip of the Creature’s tail provides a 3-way switch to channel between different clipping diodes in an asymmetric configuration

  • Position 1 (Classic Silicon): Uses standard 1N4148 silicon diodes inspired by the original vintage and White Face circuits, with the lowest headroom and heaviest compression. The most faithful to early ProCo grit.

  • Position 2 (MOSFET / Schottky): Wires a MOSFET in parallel with a Schottky BAT41 diode. Modeled after the Fat Rat, this medium-threshold position increases gain and low-end response for a more open, transparent voice.

  • Position 3 (Red LED): Delivers Turbo Rat-style Red LED clipping. Featuring the highest threshold, this configuration is the loudest and most uncompressed mode, providing maximum pick attack and clarity for high-gain bridge pickup leads.
